A normal player will scarcely remember Dampé from their casual playthroughs – they race him for the hookshot and that's it. However, a speedrunner will see Dampé as a mortal enemy.
As a child, Dampé offers a Gravedigging Tour late at night. For ten rupees, he will dig up a patch of dirt. There is a 10% chance that he will dig up a Piece of Heart, which is necessary to complete the 100% of the game.
Unlike the rest of Ocarina of Time, there's no real way to gain an edge with Dampé. Sometimes he'll dig up the heart piece on the first go, on the next run it could take ten tries. Dampé has the power to obliterate a perfect run, or save a run on life support. In the end, it's all (seemingly) up to fate.
Speedrunners are a cowardly and superstitious lot, and Clint Stevens is no different. Clint has taken to human sacrifice to try to appease the blood god, desperately hoping to gain divine favor to weigh Dampé's odds in his own favor. While Clint usually prefers to sacrifice virgin plebs, in times of great darkness he has even killed off subs and mods to gain more power and save more time.
